Disco II cranks, but won't start.
I have a 2002 discovery II v8.
first off: vehicle has brand new inertia switch (have also jumped switch to rule out) and newer ignition switch (car has run normal with replacement switch).
Initially when attempting to start vehicle, it would crank, but not fire. Both the emergency flashers and m & s lights would flash indicating a gear box fault.
I was able to get rid of m&s lights along with gearbox fault eliminating that from the equation (xyz switch and such) however, even when turning key to position 2 e-flashers would come back on and vehicle would continue only to crank and not fire (no m&s lights this time only flashers)
finally after screwing with various sequences of disconnecting battery, unlocking and opening doors, etc. I was able to miraculously get the key into position 2 with no faults or flashing lights. Engine then almost started for a second then flashers came back on (still no ms)
my questions to you all are as follows:
1. Is there a transceiver in ignition? If So, is the transponder the key itself or the fob? (What gives and receives code from key if anything?)
2. What are all functions of hood closed switch? Does it disable starting if open? Does it trip alarm?
3. Where is the computer located? Have yet to check connectivity.
4. If red alarm light is not on at all is vehicle mobilised? Yes light does work.
5. Is there a secondary inertia switch? And does firewall inertia switch only shut off fuel?
6. Is there a way to bypass fuel shut off from immobilizer/ alarm system to rule this out?
7. Does anyone know all possible instances that could cause emergency flashers to go on and not stop until power supply is cut?
8. Does the default 1515 code work to bypass starting issues or is dealer car specific code required? If so, is there a way to get this over the phone or somewhere else as nearest dealer is 4 hours away
THANKS! Appreciate any and all insight toward fixing this.

If you have a device like a Nanocom then you can read your default code or even set it to something easy to key in via your door lock such as 1111. Several code scanners will display if your Alarm/immobilizer has been triggered, as well.
If you bypass the circuitry to activate the fuel pump manually, you'll at least want a switch because otherwise that pump will remain on with your Disco parked and off (and on in event of a rollover... not safe!).
You can spray starter fluid into the air intake to test if your fuel is cut off. Easy/cheap/quick test.
Make DANG sure that you have a fully charged battery.

Usually a sequence of locking/unlocking three times (preferably with the key fob) with take care of any alarm immobilization. After that quick test are starting fluid in the intake, or stick a spark in a pulled plug wire and watch for spark with a helper. You can also check fuel pressure using free fuel pressure tester from Oreilly. That will answer fuel pump question. Or you could consider jumpering the fuel pump relay and listen for it running. ECU will not fire injectors without CPS signal, but I would check fuel pressure and spark before replacing that unless you just want a new one anyway.
So.... car will fire on ether. Jumped fuel pump and the pump does work. However, still will not start. Does not make sense as engine obviously has spark (having started off of ether) and fuel pump is jumped and running.
now regarding crank position sensor...
when cranking, engine light will turn off. When you let off crank and back to key position 2 light comes back on. However, when I unplug cps connector the engine light will stay illuminated through cranking and key position 2. What does this mean????????
also, did you mention cps will not allow injectors to function if sensor does not acquire reading? This would make sense why car won't start but has fuel/spark...
