Default Disco II Electrical Problem

My 2004 Discovery II has been sitting on the driveway for several months. The battery died and after a jump and then a battery replacement I have a problem. When the battery is connected the horn, hazards, etc. all engage. Is this a grounding problem. Where should I start the diagnosis?

Sounds like your alarm. Do you have a working remote?

Try disconnecting the battery and keep the hood open. Lock all the doors and depress the hood sensor plunger(basically make the car think it's completely shut and locked). You will probably need to lock the doors while the battery is connected.

Then re connect battery while holding down hood sensor plunger. If alarm doesn't sound use remote or key to unlock car(all while plunger is depressed).

Default Success!

The Internet is a powerful thing. You hit the nail on the head with the alarm. All is right in the world (except for the leaking headgasket, the dented fender, . . . )
