Default Disco II - Rear Seat won't fold up - Help

Just received a 2001 Disco II.

The passenger side rear seat will not release to fold up (as in when I am trying to create more space in the back).

I pull the fabric loop and nothing happens. I removed the black cardboard cover and just couldn't figure out the mechanism and a way to manually unlocked it from the floor.

There seams to be two mounts, one on the left and one in the middle. The one on the left looks open so the middle one, which I can't see well must be stuck in the locked position.

Any tips out there?

The driver side seat works properly and releases from the floor.

Thanks so much for the help.

C

So you've got the back folded right down, right? Then you pull the fabric loop and nothing happens? Did you try pushing down on the seat while pulling the strap? My guess is there might be something pinched under the seat causing upward pressure and jamming the mechanism.

Yeah, seat back is folded down. I pull the strap loop, it does move up rotating the cam and pulling wire, but seat doesn't release.

Another detail is that when I put the seatback in normal position, it doesn't lock back.

I see this is an old thread, but did you ever figure out how to get your seat up and out? Mine is jammed too and I don't see any option other than drilling out the mounting bolts.

On mine the floor mechanism does not release unless the back of the seat is folded completely forwards.

I apologize for resurrecting this thread a second time, but I'm experiencing the exact same issue on seats I recently installed and I'd love to know if anybody figured it out. There are several threads on the issue but none really come to a satisfactory conclusion. Here's the basics one more time:

-The single seat behind the driver functions perfectly, as is the case with most posts about this issue.

-The 1.5 seats on the passenger side are locked in the downward (floormost) position. When I try to release them from the floor, the pull activates the wire but nothing happens. The underside hooks are in the same position mentioned above; the leftmost being not locked in at all while the middle must be locked in place. No visibility.

-When I try to lift them to the seating position, the mechanism locks halfway and I cannot get them all the way up. I unbolted the seat belt in case the inertia mechanism was holding it back, but no luck.

-I have already tried lubricating everything I can see underneath the seat as well as putting firm pressure on the seats before pulling. Nothing I've done has made a difference.

Let me know if you guys solved this! I currently have a 3-seat Rover and what good does that do anybody? ...Thanks!!!

I just had this issue.
the way I got round it was to use a long screwdriver to push the carpet down under the middle of the stuck seat. Do this by lieing in the boot.
With the carpet pushed down you can just see a torx bolt that holds the lock in place to the seat. Spray this with wd40 or what ever you have. Then with a lot of patience and a decent rachet and 40torx bit get the bolt undone. When it's off
the thread use a screwdriver to lever it out completely.
Now I used a spade but any decent lever will work. Slide it under the seat and lever them up. They lift about an inch. That gives you access to the second bolt holding the lock. Undo this and then lever them up the rest of the way. The cable mech on the lock will stop them going all up.
