One of the sun roof screens on 1999 Disco II has stopped recoiling. I would like to repair the screen. According to the Rave CD, to work on the sunroof you have to remove the headliner. I replaced the headliner last year and know what a pain in the butt is is to remove and replace. Can the screen be repaired/replaced without totally removing the sunroof?

Nope, the headlinner will need to be completely loose. Pulling it out would make this easier. You will need more room than just loosening and wiggling around it. Sorry.

 

You may be able to access the screens by just droppoing the front of the headliner. I would try that first. If you can't, then your half way there on removing the headliner. Do your sunroofs rattle when open?

I was concerned the headliner would have to come down. I guess a sharp knife blade will take care of the screen issue until I get the energy to drop the headliner.

The sunroof does NOT rattle when it is open Grussell.

 

No rattle is good, I need to go in and repair my sunroofs. Both have bushings missing on the tracks.
