Was the T-Case shifter in "N" by chance?

As for how to tell if the Transmission is bad with out being able to start and drive.

Try lifting one of the front tires and try and turn it while in park. You should be able to move it a few inches in each direction and it stops. Does it keep turning?

I'll try spinning a tire. Wish me luck. The T-Case shifter might be in N. Why would that make a difference?

The drive shafts are connected to the T-Case and if the T-Case is in "N" then maybe the drive shaft turning wouldn't turn anything in the T-Case and in turn wouldn't turn the transmission while you were towing it in park and you might be fine. Does that make sense?

Also, In my opinion if you are planning on spending $8K on a new engine I would not just leave a transmission that's been sitting for 4 years in without so much as a rebuild. There are plenty of other companies that build top hat engines for around $5K and you can spend the other $3K on a rebuilt transmission to pair up with it. Basically a brand new truck

I meant why would the T-Case being in neutral make a difference with the transmission. I thought the T-Case only affects the front tires. Still don't understand how this full time 4 wheel drive thing works.

Ok, the T-Case was in neutral. I put it in low and front tire would just move a little either way. Put in High, same thing. Put back in neutral and tire would spin freely.

Would that mean I am completely out of the woods?

The shop does plan to flush the transmission and inspect (whatever that means). What could go wrong sitting, other than seals?

transfer is in use at all times.power to the front and rear diffs come from the t-case. I am putting this in simple terms on purpose, I won't get into detail. ok man sorry about the harsh post but if you are going to put in an engine you need to know this stuff. if you dont know these simple things I would suggest taking it to a shop. not trying to be harsh just stating fact.

No worries. If this was a bike i would have it apart in seconds and be stuffing cases! I will do some things on the cars, but full engine replacement, NOT! Probably could, but I wouldn't be confident that I did it correctly and would be worried all the time!

My little girl will be driving this and I am not going to take chances.

So the T-Case being in neutral totally over rides the transmission being in park?

At this point I am trying to learn!
