Default Disco II Waterfall sound under glovebox NO HEAT

Heat only works when the car is moving. I have the dreaded waterfall sound coming from under my glovebox 2000 disco II. Was told air in the system. I opened up the coolant reservoir, started the car, added fluid, cranked the heat to high and let the car idle for 5 min before I screwed the coolant cap back on. Still no heat unless the car is moving. Any suggestions?

If I flush theentire cooling systemcompletely will this stop the problem?

sounds like a water pump might be going bad.*can you hear it grinding at idle?

Is it losing coolant? There is also a bleed srew on the radiator hose. You can get some air outthat way also.

For anybody else who reads this post...he needs to properly fill and bleed the cooling system, and then find his leak.

I agree with Spike.

Remove the coolant tank and put it on the battery cover (higher then the screw on the top hose). Loosen the screw on the top hose until coolant runs out. Tighten the screw back down and then put the tank back and check the level.

I've noticed that even when my Rover has had a problem it keeps running. For such as a supposedly unreliable vehicle it seems to be quite the opposite. I'll be honest that I was a little paranoid about buying a rover after doing research and finding out how unreliable they are supposedly. I am quite please that mine has proven otherwise.

Thanks for the feedback. As far as the waterpump is concerned, there is a squeal which I suspectedwas thewaterpump. I had the waterpump and headgasket replaced less than 3000 miles ago by Cityside in Holliston, MA, best mechanics anywhere for Rovers in MA, so I am assuming the pump is good. I am not losing any fluid either. Before the headgasket was replacedthe waterfall sound was present. I assumed when the headgasket was replaced it would solve the problem but it did not. Next thing I will do is bleed the system as per Spike555.

I'll repost when I'm done flushing.
