Angry Disco ii wont start after warm up.

Hey everyone, before i get bashed for not going over stickies or using search I HAVE!! So recently purchased a 02 disco, just wanted a good weekend toy. Well truck ran fine first few times i used her, then she started with the no start while warm, pulled her home a few hours later she fires up. After reading here and about 5 other forums i "figured" most common or likely problem was my CPS so i replaced it, drove it around went home turned off and turned back on when i only waited like 5 seconds. Left off for about 5 min, wont start. Again after a few hours she works again.. I read maybe bad fuel pump relay in fuse box. So i swapped all 8 plugs and one wire! (Pain in the a$@) turned her on went for a drive turned off, wouldn't come back on. Swapped relay in fuse box with one right next to it, and Windshield washer or wiper one and same thing no start. I rinsed down area where cps is and still no start. I then thought to check if i had spark and i do. So im tired and just want to fix this thing what is my next step i just need a some help!!

How bizarre. I have no idea what the solution is but I'm subscribing to this thread to find out.

I can't imagine that your fuel pump gets "tired" but that seems to be the only thing you haven't checked or changed.

Check the inertia switch on the passenger side of the firewall under the hood. Make sure that it is not depressed. I have seen the issue you are describing on a 2000 Subaru Legacy caused
by the inertia switch being depressed.

It could also be the fuel pump. If your truck is over 150k, it is not a bad idea to replace it even if it is not the problem.
Good luck.

When you say won't work, what does work?

Do you get dash lights? Does it crank? Does it fire then splutter to a stop?

On old cars I've had that used to have odd hot starting issues, it always seemed to be air related. I always suspected fuel, but found a vacuum leak, or air box somethings or other which created a super-lean mix. As I say, on other vehicles.

Do you have any fault codes to go with it?

Sorry was all over the place today, yes instruments up, radio, ac blower, cranks has spark, just won't start. I read somewhere about the inertia switch havent been able to find the damn thing, also heard about checking for fuel pressure, but not sure how.. The schrader valve isnt easy to get to if I've understood correctly.

Thing is, why does it work cold, and drives fine. If it was the inertia switch what trips it off after an hour or two.

Quiet tonight. Holiday I guess.

I'm doubting inertia switch for the reason you say.

I think this is either deep in a BCU or other such magic box. Or is a basic Air Fuel Spark thing. My gut says the latter.

Something is heating up and altering the scene in fire triangle terms. If you have spark then fuel is suspicious.

I'm not sure certain how to test fuel pressure. Have a search around. Yes, there is a schrader valve which I believe the plenum chamber has to come off to access.

Edit. You didn't mention codes. Have you hooked up a reader?

Inertia switch of on the passenger side firewall. Black thing with a wire coming out of the bottom. You press it from the top.

The first time I put an engine in I had the same problem and I just pushed that thing not knowing what it was. Started right up.

The Schrader valve pokes to the back driver side of the upper intake. I've wondered if it could be accessed with the intake on.

So I just checked. Yes you can reach it with the intake on. It is a tube with a metal cap just under the driver side of the upper intake to the left of the coils. The cap twists off counter clockwise. My cap was TIGHT. Awkward spot. You can feel it standing on the driver side fender.

I would check that crank position sensor again. It sure sounds like a CPS issue. Make sure the connector is fully seated. Also the cam position sensor, which is connected right under the water pump on the front cover. I can't recall if you said you checked that connection.
