Wait for the lift. You'll have to anyway. I went with the HD OME springs front and rear. I also went with 16" wheels, 265/75/16 BFG TAs and certainly can't complain. My mileage might have suffered a bit, but not by much. The type of tire you run will have an impact on how your rig performs off the line. My buddies with MT tires say the added weight of the tire makes accellerations pretty lame.

One thing that really sucks about Discos is the lack of lockers or a CLD. Having tires capable of being air'd down to 18-20psi certainly helps, so be very picky with your tire selection.

It's not the weight of the tire that effects your mileage drop of nearly 2MPG in town, it is the larger diameter of the 265, which for all intents is a 32" tire.
What year is your Disco, you have a CDL hiding under your feet?

As we're on the subject of wheels & tires. Can anyone tell me what this style of Disco IIwheel is called? I know it seems to come on the 2003 Disco's. I'd like to get some of these one day.

Go fatter if you want less traction, if you want more go with the 245/75-16, the wider the tire the less traction you'll see, more float but less traction. The main reason for really wide tires is driving in very deep snow, deep mud where you can't bottom onto something to push off, or sand. For most use more narrow puts more PSI on the road. This is one reason I went 245/75-16, but I also happen to think they look better. I went with the Firestone Destination2 MT and love them so far.

He was responding to "newBrover" And I don't think the 03 had a CDL, well one you can use easily?(Central Locking Diff) Knowing Rover it's probably still there just blanked off in some way? From what I saw in the service manual there's even still a PTO from the very early series Land Rover's lurking in the X-fer case.

I can confirm the 03 is the one year they produced the LT230 without a CDL. Since I did not realize that when I bought one. If I knew then what I know now I'd have bought a 2004 with ACE as well.
