Disco Lift- Bigger Tires- BEFORE the Lift?
Your only option, if you are going to be doing some real heavy wheeling, is to buy a used LT230 t/case and swap it out, then you will have the extra traction from the CDL as well as be able to install lockers and gears if you wanted to.
ORIGINAL: Disco Mike
It's not the weight of the tire that effects your mileage drop of nearly 2MPG in town, it is the larger diameter of the 265, which for all intents is a 32" tire.
What year is your Disco, you have a CDL hiding under your feet?

As for a lurking bonus CDL....no such luck....2002.
I like the 265/70/16's(Bridgestone Dueler A/T ).. i'm running them on my disco and they fit great on original suspension. my mpg isright at 14-14.5mpg, i don't know what it was before the larger tires. Florida is very flat, and the load's i tow are light, so i can't tell much difference in the low end torque.
