Default Disco redesign

If you were one of the original designers of the Discovery what would you have done different? Just to start off I would have the made the wheel wells bigger, moved the front mud flaps forward so mud/water wouldn't fall on the side steps, change the front and passenger seat recliner to a lever type not the **** types which takes forever to recline, that's what I can think of at the moment :-)

Use all Bosch electronics.

Increase wheelbase so adults can sit in the back seat without the driver and front passenger having to sit on the dash.

Make the diesel engine meet US EPA requirements for import.

x2 on the diesel for US, And also i wish they would have put the spare under the truck somehow... I think it would have looked better without any spare on the back door.

X3 on the diesel V8. And they did banish Lucas(99.5). Gotta luv that DII. WAY bigger wheel arches, like 35's on stock suspension. Longer wheel base for less overhang and a back seat big enough for me (think sprawling room).

x4 on the TDi.... i think the rear wheels can be moved back like 6 inches the rear wheel well makes it hard to get in and out of the back seat, also the spare should be on a pivot off the frame, bumper or body not on the door, its too much for the hinges. Also head gaskets that don't fail and a drive shaft that doesnt explode would have been nice.

as for mechanical: I would say put the rotors outside the hubs, move the ignition module from behind the engine to a little more accessible place, put a little more room where the passenger front O2 sensor is and make the plug for that sensor a bit more accessible, no abs brakes, and a non vacuum powered cruise control system. as for in the passenger compartment: better window regulators, relocating the power seat switches (dont know about anyone else but mine are in the way when putting on seat belts), retractable jump seat seat belts, plastic cover under glove box (instead of the cardboard one), and a locking center console storage box.

as for outside maybe change the rear step from hydraulic to spring loaded, not sure on the spare tire (I would hate to sacrifice something else like fuel tank size or something to put it underneath)

I agree the diesel in US would be great
