Thanks for the encouragement Whowa004. I’ll definitely keep looking around. Craigslist occasionally has some but I’ve wasted time and miles on misleading listings. Drove 2 hours to see one in Phoenix which was in pretty bad shape listed for 3500. Glad to hear your experience was much better. Still looking to find something similar to what you described.

CL is a good source. Ask a lot of questions. If they get irritated or don’t answer, that’s a red flag (to me). I looked at quite a few and drove all over the 7 so cal counties before I found one I was happy with. If they’re responsive to your inquiries then I’d say it’s worth the drive. Also, look twice. Request a cold start. And lastly, have it looked at by a mechanic if anything seems “off”. A little time invested up front is well worth it in my opinion. Good luck!

Thanks Rove Again. Definitely appreciate the cold start recommendation. Went to see a rare local one a few months ago and the guy said he started it up before we arrived to let it warm up. Obviously a red flag.

Check Facebook Marketplace as well. I think many people are now posting on FB instead of CL.

If you're not already aware, AutoTempest is a better search tool for Craigslist that'll let you search in a wider area.

Seems up here in Seattle the cheaper more project vehicles are on FB... CL seems to have a mix of both but more proud owners with better appearing vehicles.

Sherman Oaks Exclusive has quite a few Discos, however they do ask a pretty penny. Dealer is located in Southern Cal. The range they have right now is from $20k to $30k.

Snag this one: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/rML...iscovery-ii-se

I'd stay away from dealers. You want a Rover enthusiast to answer all your questions, help you get a pre-purchase inspection, etc. etc.
Good luck!
