Default Disco stalling when idle

Almost every time I start up my 95 Disco, the idle goes way down and I have to rev the engine to get it up so it doesn' stall. When I shift into gear, the idle goes down again and I have to do the same thing. It sputters when I press on the gas when starting it up. To me it seems to be something with the fuel line but what do I know? I'm just a dumb blonde.

The problem only seems to occur when starting up the car- not while driving.

let's say you pull up to a stop light does it then do it. How often, all the time, once in a while? Could be fuel filter, when was last time it was changed?

Yeah, it sometimes does it at a full stop now that I think about it. It's not all the time though.

Fuel filter? Good question! I'll check that.
(Although with my luck it won't be that simple.[8D])

they are cheap enough to just change out and pretty easy.

Before you try to take the filter off, I would give the connections a couple of shots of PB Blaster and wait a couple days and do it again. It will make it easier to separate the fittings.

If this doesn't work, I would look towards the stepper motor - could be carboned up. I would also look at the vacuum tubing for dry rot.
