Any other symptoms? Any problems prior to replacing the battery? Why we're you stuck in the snow?

Is the tachometer moving when you crank it? If it isn't moving, you have a bad crank position sensor.

If it is moving, I'd try swapping the fuel pump relay with the washer relay next to it. If it still won't crank, you need to go back to basics and check for spark and fuel.

I bought it while it was in the snowbank....i only paid $250 for it....ill check to see if the tach moves when i go out in the morning.

I already did the relay swap anyways...didnt really think about watching the tach tho.

if it is a DII i "believe" the tach does not work until the truck has fired, if you want to check the CPS you need an obdII scanner

It looks like drowssap is right! You have to use a obd reader to check the rpm, the gauge will show nothing til it cranks.

Sorry if I sent you in the wrong direction.

check for live information on your obdII and see if the rpm changes when you crank it

I highly recommend buying a cheapo bluetooth obd2 reader. It talks to your smartphone. Buy the app called "torque" and you are in business.
