Default Discovery 1 Wiper Arms on a Discovery 2

Mainly thanks to a prompt from Kernow Discovery about the virtues of the D1 wiper arms I finally fitted them onto my D2 today. These are kosher D1 arms with the hook end type fitting which now opens up a whole new spectrum of aero type 21" (530mm) wiper blades. I have to admit after my initial testing was "these are great" and wish I'd known and done this sometime ago. The 2003 wiper arms are slightly better looking but very 'fiddly' with silly little plastic slide clips and the wiper blades are restricted to either OEM LR or Bosch traditional blades.

I have to give credit to Kernow Discovery for her recommendation of the D1 wiper arms.

one of the best, cheap modes i've done to my '04. so much better than the stock D2 wiper arms. the springs on the D1 arms must have much better tension and they hold the wipers to the windscreen much better.

This is my next mod as soon as I can find a Disco 1 at a scrap yard.

X2- just did mine this past weekend as well. Dead simple job, took maybe 10 minutes. Much better arms, better wiping. I also undid the seal I had done on the front sunroof, due to leaking. Both mods just in time for spring, and rainy season. We'll see about that sunroof, if it leaks or not.

Glad I could help Offroad. Doug may have told me that little tip.. I don't recall. They seemed to have worked well for me for the past few years. It took me quite a while before I actually bit the bullet and changed them out. Like you, I wondered what had taken me so long. It's amazing how time flies while you're thinking about something.... or not.

Tired today. I was a one woman freak show over the weekend - more house projects, shop projects, moving big pieces of furniture by myself in a 20' Uhaul. I need to remind myself that I cannot do it all and that I'm only one person.

How's the knee doing? Better?

Christina

Amazon Amazon

These refills worked great on my D2 arms, and were only $5. Not sure why everyone is going to the trouble of swapping arms.

I want to do this. I bought replacement D2 blades from AB sometime mid last year... finally got around to installing them and both don't contact the windshield fully. Would be nice to grab blades from any auto store.
