Default Discovery 2 Brake Calipers and Rotors

Hello D2 forum members,

Need your advice on this. I recently upgraded the wheels on my 2003 D2. They really look good on the vehicle.

However the wheels expose the the brake calipers and the rotors which are rusty.

Have any of you upgraded your calipers and rotors? Is there a way to clean them up to make them look good?

See pics attached.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

There's rattle-can paint sold that's specifically for calipers, but I wouldn't expect it to hold up all that well. On the plus side, it's very cheap.

Default D2 Calipers and Rotors

Wow! Thanks for the 3 quick replies!

For the powder coat option, the assumption here would be the brake calipers would need to be OFF the vehicle, correct?

I don't think the rotor can be powder coated partially, so only painting, right?

What would the ceramic brake pads do? Would it be to reduce brake dust? Any other benefits?

If I paint spray the calipers, do you think it's a good idea to spray paint them without taking them off?

Thanks again.

Powdercoating, the calipers and brackets have to come off. The rotor can be powdercoated as well, just the hat. I know a place near me that does it and does it well. and no one has complained the rotors dont stand up afterwards.

Ceramic brake pads do reduce the amount of brake dust you get.

and you can spray them om the car, just be careful with what is covered up.

You can spray them on the car if you want, but protect against overspray. Taking the calipers off the rotors (but keeping the brake lines connected) might be better because you'll have easier access to the whole part for spraying. It's also very easy to do.
