Default Discovery 2 Clutch Bleed

So there I was driving in traffic, went to change gear in my TD5, clutch pedal to the floor, so stopped the car into 1st, let the traffic pull away, start the engine in first, pull into neutral , then rev up into second then third, a slow drive the 15 miles home, so master cylinder out slave cylinder out, and both stripped, looks like the spring Broke in the master cylinder and deformed the cup seal but kits don’t come with springs so need a new one , so to be safe ordered master and slave , well 22 years old now and 152000 on the clock, so I can’t complain, and I still got home

Yes the master cylinder spring had broken and I thought that was the problem, so when the arrived I fitted them replaced the pipe and with my wife pumping the peddle, lean in and down to bleed the slave, well I was getting a lot of aire out, but finally it ran clear….. or so I thought

When I got under to remove the axle stands it was raining brake fluid, so my initial thoughts of it the master cylinder were wrong it was in fact the stainless steel line with the crimped on flexi , the flexi having a small split in the hose …………

So back on the internet to find a replacement……..Original LR part was a jaw dropping, wallet emptying…wait for it……..£231.10

So a bit more searching needed, and I found as replacement for,…..£43.99 plus postage , a snip at £47, bought from Pioneer 4x4, Hynes Lodge, Plymtree, Cullompton EX15 2LD, Tel +44 7960 098059

So duly ordered, arrive fast, too, now I know D2 clutch bleeding can be let say….frustrating, but with this new flexi hose it a new ball game, I removed the slave cylinder, and removed the dust cover then with 2 very long screws fixe a short section of wood across the slave piston,

the brought it to the open drivers door fitted a bleed hose and bottle then sat and pumped it myself while sitting in the driver seat,

as there was a small gap between the end of the slave and the wood you could see the wood go solid as it locked the piston the I would open the bleed, when it locked up the wood at the very top of the peddle stroke, I was happy it was free of bubbles I locked it up and replaced the slave then routed the flexi hose away from the engine, test drive was as good as before the hose split,
