Default Auto Transmission Gear Oil

I am now using Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 year of 2002, I would like to know what is the brand of auto transmission gear oil that I should use for my car? Thank you

The label would have to say compatible with Dexron 3. Pretty easy to find. What is more difficult is being sure it is at the proper level, with no dipstick. Here are pages from the shop manual that cover that.

I've just translated the PDF file into Portuguese perhaps it may be of some use to someone. Regards peterinrioSubstituir óleo da caixa de câmbio automática

1 VERIFIQUE se a caixa de engrenagens está fria. Aplique o travão de mão e calce as rodas dianteiras e traseiras.

2 Colocar recipiente abaxio ge cambio para oleo

3 área limpa em torno do nível / enchimento de óleo e bujões de drenagem

4 remova o tampão de drenagem de óleo, remova a arruela de vedação

5 permitir que o óleo drene

6 coloque uma nova arruela de vedação no tampão de drenagem

7 coloque o tampão de drenagem da caixa de engrenagens automática e aperte a 15 Nm (11 lbf, pés)

8 remova o enchimento de óleo / plugue de nível, remova e descarte a arruela de vedação

9 encher a caixa de engrenagens com óleo recomendado até o fundo do nível de óleo / orifício do bujão de enchimento

10 selecione "P" (Park)

11 garantir que o freio de mão seja aplicado

12 dê partida no motor e deixe em marcha lenta

13 aplicar quebra-pés

14 mova a alavanca seletora em todas as posições de marcha, enquanto continua a encher a caixa de câmbio. Selecione "P" (Estacionamento)

15 com motor em marcha lenta, continue enchendo a caixa de engrenagens até que uma gota de óleo de 2 mm saia do orifício do bujão de enchimento / nível

16 coloque a nova arruela de vedação no filete da caixa de engrenagens automática / plugue de nível e aperte a 30 Nm (22 lbf.ft)

17 pare o motor

18 remova todos os vestígios de óleo da caixa da caixa de engrenagens

lets not mix applications here

automatic transmissions do not use "gear oil" they use ATF

front and rear differentials and transfer cases use "gear oil"

engines use "engine oil"

FWIW I use Mobil 1 ATF and change every 20K.

Hi instructions you sent were great and the gear changing has improved a lot only occasionally does it stay in first. Unfortunately, it still makes a clunking noise slowing down. Any further advise would be really appreciated. thanks peterinrio
