Discovery 2 Heads
So on the back of my passenger side head there is the engine hoist mount. Is there a plug that is supposed to be behind that plate. My machine shop took it off for me and I have no clue. I've got fluid coming from behind there and trying to figure out if that is a possibility.
Thanks
Thanks
Nope, if it's leaking any fluids it's another issue.
If it's oil, did you apply black RTV sealant along the edges of the valley pan seals? Or possibly the edge of the valve cover gasket that got snagged and did not seat?
If it's coolant, are the heater core hoses leaking? If not, I'd be very worried about a head, block, or head gasket issue.

I'll go back on my word, you said is there supposed to be a plug there? Yes, a core plug for a coolant passage through the head. I re-read and is it just gone? That would be a very decent amount of coolant rushing out.
Well it is quite a bit coming out, I'll have to look back there but it's kind of hard with the fire wall being there. I did not know there was a plug on the back side of the head.
Should be a rounded boss sticking out from end of head, at corner beside the intake manifold. It has a hole approximately one inch, or so, into coolant passage that should be plugged.
Look at other head at the front towards the radiator direction. The heads are identical fitment rear of one is same as front of other. Also, google rover v8 heads for picture.

So ends up that it was the o ring for the heater hose to the lover intake manifold, it then ran back around there rear of my engine making it look like a bad head gasket or lower intake gasket. Make sure you check that out before you go thinking you have a big problem.
