Default discovery 2 hubs

who is making the best D2 hubs right now? I remember one guy going through 6 or so replacements. I thought there was a thread a few months ago, but I can't find it now.

OE atlantic british or proline from rovers north? or OEM frmo lucky 8? anyone know if "OEM" is literally the company name or if that means the original manufacturer in this case? AB makes it seem like it's a company name.

OEM means "original equipment manufacturer." In other words, OE or OEM part are parts made by Land Rover. AB sells OEM parts and their own branded versions of some parts, not sure about the hubs. Sorry I can't help with the hub question

Yeah I’m aware of that but they also list genuine Land Rover separately on other products so I wasn’t sure if “OEM” is a confusingly named company as well. Does that make sense?

I think OEM means a supplier that provided parts to Land Rover but not made by Land Rover. And I think it can get pretty murky as to who actually provided parts and who made a part to OEM specifications. Truly genuine might be the supplier who won the bid or a bid and sold through Land Rover distribution channels at one time. Or it means nothing. As time passes this probably could be a wide range of aftermarket manufacturers. Thats my .02 cent guess.

Timken was the OE manufacturer for the hubs for Land Rover, at least back when the D2 was in production. Purchase the best you can afford. I know some folks have had great luck with the cheap eBay/RockAuto/Lucky8 hubs (around $100)and also folks that have gone through many as you mentioned. I got Moog hubs last time as Timken was out of stock during COVID. They where made in Spain I believe.

FYI, the front and rear hubs are exactly the same. The only difference is the ABS sensor wire length. I have a 3” lift so ordered fronts for the rears.

I used an AllMakes hub without issues. I saw that even the really cheap ones from Rock are okay though. @Brandon318 went through a ton of hubs before getting a good one.

I'm that guy I found success with AllMakes hubs from Rovers North. Tried AB, tried BPU, and Lucky8 offerings. All failed. What a wild year that was. Once I found the one that worked, I bought a backup for my little parts inventory.

I replaced a rear hub with a cheap TRQ one. It has been performing fine for over 5K miles. I previously had Rovers North Proline hub back there that failed under warranty. They replaced it and that failed in a couple years. That's when I went the cheap route to see because Timken ones were not available. I recently bought a TRQ for the front as my passenger side failed but have not installed yet. Both my fronts are OE (Timken) used ones from Will Tillery. They have logged a crap load of miles and abuse.
