You could just unplug a sensor but then you'd need a scanner to clear the codes. My disco was great in soft sand with traction control and CDL. Maybe try it before you try and turn it off?
You can disable TC in the SLABS with the correct diag equipment bearing in mind you'll also disable the ABS and HD at the same time. To reinstate you'll also need a suitable diag to reprogram the SLABS. In truth it's not worth all the trouble and I'm sure the TC will work OK on virtually any surface.
Doesn't this also disable the proportional braking? The D1 has a proportioning valve separate from the ABS. I believe the D2 has incorporated all that into the ABS control unit.
If I'm wrong, please let me know. Don't want to disseminate incorrect info.
Never had any issues with the traction control and sand, that is the majority of the off roading I do. Hell I took mine on almost bald tires on the beach and all I had to do was air down. I would suggest airing down the tires if needed or even getting a more aggressive tire before you try messing with the traction control and completely messing up the braking system of your truck. Anyways here are some pictures of mine on the sand, first pic was with the bald tires.

The ABS system on a D2 is composed of an A and B circuits. The primary circuits being the ones between the brake master cylinder and ABS modulator. After the modulator there are two distinct braking circuits, A&B, which operate in a diagonal system, lets say A is front LHS and rear RHS and B say the front RHS and rear LHS. The ABS modulator acts but proportioning the front and rear systems. So hence the shuttle valves have to be activated to correctly bleed the braking system otherwise both A&B circuits cannot be properly bled. This requires a suitable diagnostic tool with brake bleeding capability to correctly bleed the brakes efficiently and correctly albeit some say it doesn't.
What happens on the D1 I haven't a clue as I have never studied or owned one.

You are absolutely correct.
Disabling the TC/ABS will disable the F/R brake proportioning, as that is handled by the SLABS in a D2, versus a proportioning valve in the D1/RRC.
The last time I mentioned it, our resident keyboard commando Disco Mike threatened me with... well, whatever it is you threaten someone with on a forum, so here's the information cited from the factory service manual discussing the same thing, lest he come down on you also.
Guys, I need help. I have a 2003 Disco. I have been fighting with the traction control for about 5 years. Here is the list of things done: Shuttle value build, ran solid wheel Sensor wires (a few times), all new hubs (a few times). replaced SLABS, (new pads, rotors, calipers, and re-balanced tires."Today") I might be missing something. as of recent i Have manged to get rid of the 3 amigos but.....now as soon as i start to drive the Traction Control (T/C) kicks on. It is coming from the right rear. no warning lights prior just the T/C activating as soon as i touch the gas petal. I am at wits end as to what it could be. Please help. The nearest rover dealership is 3 hours away. I did buy an Autel 619. That has helped with clear the codes but not much else, since there is no codes anymore.
