Default Discovery 2 Wipers

Alright I know that everyone is going to say there are thousands of threads on this topic but my question hasn't been answered by any. I have a set of D1 wipers on my D2, I run rainx 20 inch on both sides which miss large spots on the windshield. I have tried many other types of wipers on my truck but every single one I try misses a large area in the middle of the wiper blade on both sides. I might just go back to the original D2 wiper arms unless someone can help. Any suggestions?

try bending the arms to get more even pressure. A soup can works nicely to avoid too severe of a bend.

I went back to the D2 arms, but am using the Tuff-Rok blades, which are of the newer beam design. I had issues with the D1 arms missing quite a bit, especially when it snowed. Have yet to see how the Tuff-Rok blades handle the snow.

I always keep stock D2 arms. I break the proprietary mounting junk off and use standard cheapie wipers with a 1/4" phillips head bolt and nyloc nut to mount them.

I added a spring to my D1 arms which increases down pressure no problems at all since.

This kind of thing

The D1 arms didn't work on my D2 so I went back to the originals. There was no place on the splines where one or other of the blades would not go off the outer edge of the windshield, and the splines can't be adjusted independently.
No problems at all since I went back. I mount bog-standard wiper blades into a spare set of D2 backs.

I rebuilt my wiper assembly completely. Found a genuine motor/linkage, grabbed D2 genuine wiper arms and got Tuff-Rok - could not bee happier. The more I think about the car, the more I want to keep it D2.

I have D1 arms too. Also found Rain-X wipers to leave spots. Ended up using 22" on the drivers side and 20" on the passenger side both with cheapo blades. Works great 🤷🏻‍♂️

Alex do you have a photo of how you are mounting the wiper blade to the arm?

Luckily I still had pictures from doing this to a customer vehicle a few weeks ago! I went ahead and added a small write up here:

I'm surprised I had never done one before.
