Not too many people with the Td5 here. You might check at Australian Land Rover Owners

OK, so key here is to have the glow plugs cycle properly.
You can't just get in there and crank on the key.
When you first turn on the key - the glow plug heating light will come on.
You need to wait for that light to just go out - then attempt to start it.

If it is really cold out - a diesel can be hard to start.
Sometimes, let the glow plug light cycle. Then it goes out.
Turn the key OFF then back on again to begin a new cycle - then after about 5 seconds of that crank on it.

For a Diesel, you need to assure there is no air in the system.
You need to also make sure the diesel filter is clean.

Also - look under the bonnet and look for diesel fuel which is spilled on the engine or injectors
as this will give you a clue where a leak could be.

Once you get to know the diesel, you'll be just fine.

There is a problem with the main harness and ECM filling up with oil on the td5. Not sure what all the symptoms are. One is rough running.
