Discovery cutout?
I was recently off-roading with my 2004 discovery at a site near me when we encountered a large mud puddle, no deeper than a foot the whole way across.Naturally, i proceeded through it once without any problems. However, on my second trip into the puddle, about halfway through it, the entire car shut down. Engine off, everything. It immediately restarted without any problem, but the incident had me worried. Any ideas on what could have caused it, or better still, how to fix it?
dont worry! I did! The check engine came back running two codes. One was a faulty seal on the gas cap, no big deal. And the other was the fact that transmition was having issues with fourth gear, which i had known for some time previous to the incident, and the engine was not revved nearly that high. In other words, neither seemed prudent to why the engine would suddenly just die, but have no trouble on the restart. The more i think about it though, i like the idea that it was a simple stall from over exertion.
