Default Discovery Engine Noise... Should I Buy it?

I saw this 2000 Discovery II with only about 66k miles on it and they want hardly nothing for it... but the engine makes a clonking noise and I'm wondering what would be the cause of it and if its easy to fix?

Either it has bad bearings, or they heated it and dropped a liner.

#1, the engine will need to be overhauled with parts not too readily available, and #2 you need a new block.

If you want a project and have $4K laying around, you can swap in a 4.6 short block.

The only way I would touch it is if they want under $2K and the truck is pristine. Even then, with that mileage, you will have to do the 60K service on it. Odds are, it hasn't been done.....

Simply put, not an easy fix.

If it is making noise and is under priced they know that there is a problem and are hoping to dump it onto a unsuspecting buyer.
Pretty crappy thing to do to somebody. BUT, if you take it to a mechanic and he tells you it is a easy and cheap fix and you are willing to fix it, get them to come down on the price even more.
Just telling us that it is making a clunking noise isint much help, sorry. It could just be lifter noise, low on oil, or it could be bad rod bearings, or a dropped cylinder sleeve.

I kinda figured the price gave a hint... and I didn't have immediate plans of purchasing it, I’ve just seen it repeatedly listed for sale and was wondering what you guys thought.
