Discovery full gas tank
Have you done research on the 2003 model years? Are you aware of the oil pump issues that go along with the 2003s? The oil pumps fail and destroy the engine. The only fix is a new engine for about $7000. Get the VIN and check it against the bad VIN range that is somewhere on this forum. The subject has been covered about 1 million times so finding it shouldn't be too difficult.
I would suggest looking at a 2004 instead of the 2003. It's the same engine less the oil pump issues and it has CDL standard in case you want to off road with the truck. The 2003 requires rebuilding the transfer case to add the center differential lock.

The 4.0 and 4.6 are the exact same engine, the 4.0 in a DII has 188 HP and the 4.6 has 200 HP.
Never thought I'd read that! Are you sure you test drove a Land Rover Discovery? LOL
03/04 have the 4.6L. My 2003 has a ton of power. A Lot of low end torque. Ponies are kinda low, but I consider hp speed and tq "power".
I was talking about the 4.0 in the Jag that has 290 HP. But the engine it self has some problems which is really slow. so even the 200 HP Disco felt more power.
You're probably feeling the 300torque at 2600RPM.
But if it has some issues then I better understand.
Land Rover owns Jag.
