Discovery or Range rover????
hi i am looking at buying either a 1997-2000 discovery or a 1990-1993 range rover, cant decide and thought i might get some advice, the car will be used 50/50 for off road and on road use, in snow as well... probably put around 10000 kms on it each year.
Thanks
Thanks
I'll make it easy.
Discovery=Less electronics, which means less hassle.
If you buy a Range Rover in that range, I can almost promise you'll have electrical issues with it somewhere down the road.
Look for a nice Discovery I or II and it will do everything you need it to do.
Disco I has CDL installed already which will greatly help in the snow. However, if you like the Disco II's better, CDL can be installed on the year range 99-01.

The range rover is a good vehicle. Yeah they do have a lot of electrics, but most of the time it can be traced to one single source, the becm, which actually makes diagnosis easy. The difference between the Discovery and RR, is it is a different model.... The RR is more expensive than the disco, and you usually get a bigger bang for your buck with a discovery. However, I have thoroughly enjoyed my RR and have had very few problems with it. In the end, it boils down to preference and not whether one LR is better than another.
Some of the RR I have sat in have low head room, for me so that maybe a issue to look at I'm 6'1".
I like the roof line for roof racks on the RR better that the Disco and you can get better (read larger) V8's in the RR unless you get a 04 Disco, and if that the case
electrics are going not much different.
