Do I need Locator tool for timing cover re-install?
Im trying to find out if I need the locator tool when re installing timing cover. Can it be done with out it? Here is what the rave says: "3. Locate tool LRT-12-090 on timing cover and oil
pump drive gear.
4. Position timing cover to cylinder block and at
the same time, rotate tool LRT-12-090 until
drive gear keyway is aligned with Woodruff key.
5. Remove tool LRT-12-090."
So often they make special tools for jobs that can be done with common tools, is this the case with this tool?
-Also, do I need two new "O" rings for re-installing the oil filter head? The rave said to replace them but, they are almost $8 apiece

if it is a 3.9 yes you do. The distributor is timed and if its off then it will run rough or not start at all.
sorry about that, noted it was an 04 then yes you can do it without tools.
not hard just line it up right and don't shove the thing on, make sure the key way lines up right.
