Do you think it’s CPS?
This morning started truck, sat for a few min at idol as I loaded truck, happen to be sitting in driver seat waiting for copilot & throttle had a quick surge- ultragage went to err on temp. & I caught a glimpse of red service engine light flash.
Rolles our of garage, one block down rd & truck goes into limp mode - M&S flashing. Shut truck off & restart - no problem. Drove 100 miles .
I assume, perhaps a CPS sign of failure & red SES light was a misfire hiccup & it straightened itself out and at running temp, no issues.
The thing is, this would be 3rd CPS sensor in less then 2 years. This is an 04, 196k on truck/ however 120k on motor. Any thoughts on the what I can look into? No codes pending or stores

I will double check, but I have good solid clean battery connections & a new battery.
I’ve had the truck suddenly accelerate on its own (for about 1- 2 seconds) once before, at a red light - then flash into limp mode back when I first acquired it. Conditions were just after getting caught in a passing thunderstorm in late summer. I had had a code that time indicating Crank shaft position sensor.
Again recently this past December, while driving down main st in a Vermont town- the truck suddenly died completely mid stride. Shut right off. I coasted into a closed parking lot - which just happened to be next to an auto parts. I spent the night in a hotel & swapped CPS early next morning when cool - and drove home no problem.
So my question would be:
Would low voltage cause a throttle surge?
How frequently are D2 owners changing CPS - or could I expected shelf life of an autocraft brand sensor to be that poor?
Does this even sound like CPS is the steady culprit ?

Yes that’s where I always get mine. I demand to look at the part before I buy it & 99.9% of the time it’s a Bosch sensor. One time I was in a hurry & didn’t look and that was the one time it was a no name wonder. Installed it & I maybe got 6 months out of it before it acted up on my Anniversary dinner 2hr from the house!! It finally did start, and we got home without any issues. I quickly removed it, took it by Auto Zone & replaced it for another unit & this time I made sure it was a Bosch unit.
