Next over-pressure is almost always a head gasket. The cracked block will cause coolant loss but not generally over pressure as you do not get exhaust gases into the coolant. That is not say it could not happen but it is unlikely.
So I agree it should be a head gasket, however with the tapping sleeve and the very common propensity of the 02-04 hse to have a micro crack in a middle cylinder, I’m calling it junk and putting in something else. First instinct get a p38 which it seems is an easy and fairly reliable swap. As it happens I found the Callaway and a P38.
the Callaway will be a little more difficult but if the engine performance is there along with the remapped tcu and upgraded torque converter I think it would be a pretty slick build

the Callaway comes with ecu tcu engine harness the entire air intake and transmission
What do you think?

I suspect the Calloway will be a huge headache for very little gain, you are replacing the engine harness ECU and possibly TCU and after all of that it may or may not work well. I thing the P38 Thor is your best choice.

Bought the p38 HSE, for 1200 should be here in about a week now to yank the current occupant out and clean the engine bay. Thanks for all the advice.

Only real issue is the oil cooler. The 2003 D2 does not have one. You will need to source an oil cooler from an earlier year Discovery so it fits onto the radiator. Or you can be like me and use the P38 oil cooler and be creative and notch some of the plastic that surrounds the radiator and make it fit. Either way it needs an oil cooler since it has a different front cover for the engine and if you plug the holes where the oil cooler pipes plug in you will starve the engine of oil.

The only other difference is the grounding strap found on the back of the D2 drivers side heads vs the P38 has a different ground strap. Just reuse the Discoverys
could you post a picture of you oil cooler installed did you put it over the transmission cooler in front of the radiator?
