Default Does the Cruise control have a hidden feature?

I was using the cruise control the other day and I switched on my headlights, all of a sudden the Cruise control stopped working. I've looked thru the Rave and the owners manual but I cant find anything that mentions that cruise control is not available when the lights are on. Did I miss it in the books or is this another unsung Rover quirk?

It must be a glitch. I use cruise day and night and driving from day into night switching on the headlights whilst still in cruise and it remains unaffected. There is no other tricks to the cruise other than what is stated in the handbook and there is no connection with the lights.

The D2 was infamous for computer sftware glitches, typically, the electric autofold wing mirrors that had a mind of their own. They would fold then unfold when the button was pressed and vice versa. LR said they'd fixed the glitch but it still happens regularly after 12 years

Years ago I occasionally drove a company van that would honk the horn when you disengaged the parking brake. Stuff happens.

You're lucky that it ever works!

Huh? Electric autofold wing mirrors on a DII? Not on the NAS trucks. Can you show us a picture of the switch you are talking about? I wonder if that feature can be retrofit to an NAS truck. It would've saved me $1200 if we'd had that feature and my son and had it in use before he backed up and caught the corner of a Lexus SUV with the RHS mirror a couple of weeks ago. Ah, parenthood.

It's available on UK spec trucks as an option or standard on SE and ES spec (US = HSE) it's the same switch you use to adjust the electric wing mirrors but instead of switching to the right or left you leave it pointing central virtical and toggle the switch downwards and the mirrors fold or unfold, or they are supposed to, thats the problem, they don't always, rubbish software. The switch is on the far left of the drivers lower dash.

Look at page 64 it is referred to as 'mirror parking'.................. when it works

Off Road you may be right about the glitch. Tried the cruise today and it works. Rover Gremlins are a curious sort

My cruise control did this all the time. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.... just depended on the day. Until one day it just finally died. Had to replace the vacuum pump, got a used one for like $40 and works just like new again... so maybe yours is on its way out also... hopefully not, but just a thought

Default Autofold mirrors

Well, sure enough my owners manual describes the electric folding mirrors feature. I finally got around to testing that switch on my truck yesterday and found that it is not equipped or enabled on my '99. Oh well, not a high priority item but I'm a little embarrassed that it was described in the manual and I hadn't seen it before. Time for some more bedtime reading I guess.
