Does my 2001 have a CDL?
How can I tell if my 2001 has the CDL that just needs a linkage worked out? I really don't want to pull all the center console out and drill out rivets if its not there. I cannot get my grape ape hands/arms up in between the shaft and trans/tc combo either to "feel" for it. Forums say 99 - early 2001 had the cdl installed but no linkage. The sticker on my Disco says made 02/01. Is this considered an early model? Thanks
Good deal. I found another thread where someone took their iPhone and started recording video and stuck it up there to see. I have the threaded post sticking up so I believe that means I have the cdl. Now just to figure out how I want to engage it. Also, I would like to change out the SLABS unit to the 2004 version but how do I know which one will work with my 01? Is there a certain part number for a non-sls unit?
@Best4x4 On a different topic, do you have pics of your 02 Kalahari? I have Kalahari wheels on my 01 but do not know if they came on it from the factory.
Will this one work? Thanks.

I'll never forget the day I discovered that little CDL spigot on the top of my transfer case. I had a beer to celebrate, and a month later, had a functioning CDL. My 2002 was right on the rumored cutoff production date, so I'd be surprised OP if yours didn't have one being a 2001.
As for SLS or non-SLS compatibility, there are no different part numbers. Any DII SLABS can have the SLS setting toggled between air springs and coils. If your truck has coil springs in the rear you'll want to confirm the SLABS is set for coils. If your truck had air springs originally and the SLABS is configured for them it can drain the battery trying to run the compressor to adjust the ride height, even with the truck turned off.

Yes, It's an LE. I wasn't sure if the wheels came factory or not on this edition. I seen a Facebook post where someone bought an LE recently and it had gray interior like the brown interior I have but it didn't have the Kalahari wheels so I wasn't sure if they came standard.
Yep standard on the LE as well as Kalahari. When the LE was first released I remember no one really liked them. Austin's LR Dealership had 3 and they just sat there until they took like 12k off the asking price. I had a chance to get a super clean LE7 in white up near Dallas a few years back, but it got away from me before I could seal the deal.
SLABS wise the 03-04 unit has the latest n greatest firmware, and it will allow the use of CDL without modifying any wiring. Units will always have the date code on them so you want to look for 03 and up.

I used the Ashcroft mechanical linkage from Lucky8 on my '00 Disco. I like the fact that it is a mechanical, "push the lever to engage". My concern was the electronic demons that sometime plague our Discos. It's nice to just grab the lever and go into lock.
Personal preference.
