It looks about 2" taller than the 1500 model direct replacement. Will it still fit or is it to tall?

 

2" taller, I would say no, 1", yes.
You want as much clearance as you can get, you dont want it shorting out on the hood.

Well, that article answers my question. It looks like it will fit just fine.

As to why, I have just had good luck with them and am not a big fan of Optima. Personal preference. As for price, my cost for that battery isaround 35% less than what Expedition Exchange is asking, so it is not that bad. If it lasts like my previous batteries did, it is probably the only battery I will ever have to buy for the Rover. I got over 8 years of serviceout of my last one.

 

Are you installing the Sears version of that battery, if so, compare specs, it is no where near the same battery.

 

No, I get it direct from Odyssey. I hate everything Sears.
