Default Doesn't run with MAF plugged in

So the truck starts and dies immediately and cannot keep it running with gas pedal but if I unplug the MAF sensor it starts and runs and drives. I have had a code for knock sensor(drivers side) and replaced 4 months ago but still shows up. Also had code for purge valve but not consistently. I have noticed that I have a buzzing noise in area of purge valve with key on. Is my MAF junk or purge valve stuck open? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Based on the thread linked below, if it runs with the MAF unplugged, I'd say a bad MAF is likely.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been diagnosing it the best I can, definitely no expert, and I did notice that the idle air control valve is buzzing constant when key is turned on running or not. Also whether the MAF is plugged in or not. Could that be the issue? Just wondering before I go buy a new MAF $$😂

starting and dying is usually the idle control valve. since it's buzzing, it's probably junk. could be the MAF too though. the purge valve won't cause this problem, but get a new one soon anyway. when the MAF is unplugged the ecm goes into a default setting, allowing the engine to run. if you have access to a scan tool that can read how much air is going by it, or if there's a maf code, that would tell the tale. good luck

You really need to have a scan run to retrieve any fault codes. While it is possible to give you some ideas of where and what the problems might be, that's all they will ever be, ideas. If you can post the fault code we might be able to help you a more and save you possibly buying parts you don't need, though the MAF does appear to be done.

Yeah sorry about that, I do run with a scangauge, which is a lifesaver when a/c condensor fan freezes and your clutch is questionable on the engine fan but that's coming soon enough. When the truck decided to start and shut down immediately, I got codes for p1230, p0102 and p1884. After clearing those and unplugging the MAF I drove approximately 10 miles home and only got codes for p1884 and p0327. I really appreciate how helpful you guys are on this forum. I've been keeping up to date on most of the D2 threads and I love it, great information.
You'd think I would know more but it took me and the wife 5 kids before I figured that one out

Do they sell the ones with bosch on them. That would be a no brainer for $30

Could you send me the link☺

RAVE shows the following for the fault codes that you have listed. I know that some have cleared, but worth knowing what they are.

P1230 - Fuel pump relay malfunction

P0102 - MAF air volume low output

P1884 has several related faults to do with the auto-box. The specific fault would have an additional number as follows (11), (18), (19), (20), (33, 34), (35) and (37).

P0327 - Knock sensor 1 circuit low output - LH bank signal less than threshold
2200 rev/min

MHK100800G MAF $195 from British Parts (genuine Bosch)

Sorry for the delay in getting back with an answer for this one, I had some health issues hold me up for a bit. I did order a new bosch MAF and the truck has started and run fine for the last few days and no codes. Thanks for all the help it is much appreciated.
