Doing the rear brakes tomorrow - couple of questions.
New rotors and pads arrived today and I have it jacked up and the wheels off, everything covered in punk buster. Tomorrow is the big day!
First question:
The size of the bolts holding the calipers - I have to pop out and get a new 12 point. What are they?
Now that I have the wheels off I can see that the last person didn't replace the two guide screws (that attach the rotor to the drive flange). And I bought a impact driver just for the task — was looking forward to trying it out.
a). are they necessary?
b). what size are they so I can replace them?
c). the holes are super rusted - should I replace them?
I also noticed the pads had slipped, I'm pretty sure whoever installed that lot was not doing the best job.

12-point sockets are designed to fit on bolts that have 12 facets on the heads rather than the usual six. Good quality ring spanners are usually 12-point. Check Sears or Harbor Freight.
The rotor screws are M8 x 20, but they are not necessary. They are used only to secure the rotor until the wheels are installed during final assembly at LR . Part number SF108201L if you decide you want to replace tho.

C'mon Fallstaff buck up you've been around a long time now.
The rotor c/s screws are M8 x 20o/a and the thread is defo metric, M8x1.5 (the 1.5 tpi I'm not positive about)
I've used stainless cap head c/s screws on mine. In truth they aren't needed as the wheel holds the rotors in position but best to use them as the threads rust up otherwise.
For unscrewing the rear caliper bolts use a 12 point impact socket as they will 'muller' any ordinary socket. When you refit these bolts use a liberal amount of thread lock on them but ensure the threads are clean first using brake cleaner.
