Default Dome lights staying on (all 3) ??

Last Rover issue that I have to solve on my 2001 D2. When I go out to my truck and open ANY door, no dome lights come on. (I can switch them on if I want to though, manually to the ON position). That said, when I'm driving down the road, if I stop at the store or something and open the driver's door - all of the interior lights come on. Then, no matter what I do, they STAY ON for about 15 minutes after I've gotten back in and go driving down the road. So, my wife and kids are screaming at me at 9pm when the entire inside of the truck are lit up while we're driving down the dark road. Thoughts??

We get this problem alot and we never get a resolve.
We get it with both DI's and DII's.
Either nobody figures it out or they never post the fix.

Hmmm...that sucks.

I've been told by a couple guys around my way that I need to repace the driver's side door lock actuator. I have no issues with locks, etc but I'm being told that the sensor for the dome lights is built inside of that on the D2. Anybody out there know for sure before I spend the time and money?

I am having a similar issue with my 96 DI. My dome light will only come on with the key on and will not come on manually. No problem with staying on though. My switch is on the inside of the door frame near the top hinge. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. I have tried everything with mine. I took the dome light apart and cleaned everything. Switch too. No change. If I ever figure it out I will post a fix. Good luck.

check your fuses, there are a couple fuses that if they burn out that affect many different components. I had dome lights not coming on with the doors, rear defrost buttons locking and unlocking doors, rear wiper coming on for no reason and not working when button is pressed, all because the fuse for the multi function unit was out, all the fuses for the seperate components were fine. so check them all.

I will definitely check all fuses tomorrow - thanks for the heads up on that as a possibility.
