Door handle problem, Disco I

The outside door handle on my 98 Disco is starting to act up.
Sometimes it acts like it is not catching just right on something
inside the door. When this happens I have to go around and open
it from the inside. Does anybody know what I am going to find when
I tear into?

I think the retainer, the part that holds the rod in place is
broken or out of place.

Hi Sooners.
Do a few simple tests to pinpoint the fault.Does unlocking the door with the key solve the problem?Does pulling the lock button upsolve the problem?Does janking the outer doorhandle open the door?Let me know the results and I will help you solve the problem.

I was unable to duplicate te probelm today. I know the first time it happened
I locked and unlocked it and it did not help.
