Default Door lock actuators

My 2001 D 2 has a lock issue, All the actuators are inop, I can make them all lock with key if I turn it twice to the lock position but they will not unlock. You can hear them clunk but they will not unlock. The locks have gone bad over a period of time and its a pain to deal with. The alarm sets and I have to use the key to unlock the drivers door and reach around inside to unlock the other doors. I can hear the units try to move, is this something that can be lubed? Jneil

What if you unlock twice with the key?

Lubing can't hurt, try using a penetrating type lube (not WD40) Kroil or PB Blaster is what I use. Might be worth pulling the door panels to get at the back side. If they've been neglected for a long time it may be too late though.

It has been awhile, but I had similar issues with my door latch actuators.
Hope the guys that really know what's going on chime in for you. I vaguely remember that is the drivers door latch actuator is bad, it will not allow the rest of them to function properly. The drivers door latch could be the issue for it all. I did have to replace other latches as well...passenger, tailgate and now the passenger rear needs replacing.
Wait for the real experts here before throwing parts at it. They may have a test to give you

There may be a condition with the driver's door actuator that I don't know about, but generally speaking if it dies the others still work. Mine had been dead for a few weeks until I found a replacement at a salvage yard. The driver's door was the only actuator affected. I made the swap today and, despite being a huge PITA getting the upper frame aligned, it was a quick fix.

Thanks for the input, I will wait a few days and see if someone has a magic cure. I guess if I have to replace them I will start with the driver door first and see what happens. Not looking fwd to the possible cost but at least its paid for. Neil

by truning the key twice you are putting it in super lock mode, which i believe uses a different actuator. The reason i say that is in super lock even the inside handles do not work.

My driver's door actuator was bad. Did not move at all.
All the other locks worked find. The previous owner had all of them replaced.

I would suggest -
replacing one of your actuators and see if it works.
If so, replace the rest.
at 80xxx miles she started to replace actuators.
I replaced the front door actuator at 97xxx miles.

If you have over 110,000 and your truck is set to lock the doors automatically when you start to move, then all your actuators are probably dead.

These are all in the door latches. All built in.
I paid about $140 for the unit on line.
I can't remember who it was.

Independent shop in Boulder area charged about $160 for the actuator and about $150 or a bit more for labor.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will buy just one and install it and see what happens. Thanks again.
