Default Door Lock Problem on 97 Disco

Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve this mystery. When I unlock the doors with the key fab, the rear passenger door lock opens but when you try to open the door by pulling the handle, it won't open and it looks like the lock sinks back down a little. This is the only door I am having trouble with. If I open the door from the inside it opens no problem.

Anyone with any advice is greatly appreciated. The child safety lock is slid into the up position.

Try unlocking the doors twice with either the key or remote. If that works, then you have a lock actuator that is getting week. I have the same problem with one of mine also.

Thanks Mike! If I need to replace that part, where is the cheapest place to order? I have one other question for you since you seem to be the man on this site. My motor is making a funny sound. It is going "dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat". It sounds like a diesel motor. The car however is running GREAT and I can't hear the sound unless the window is down. My friend seems to think that is just how the motor sounds. I am 99% sure the S-belt is fairly new. Could this in any way be the timing chain or anything critical like that? Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

not sure what you have, or how many miles, but get under it and tap you catalytic converters with a rubber mallet and listen for a rattle. If the membrane breaks loose, it causes a rattle. Annoying, and they need to be replaced......just a place to start..

Thanks for the suggestion. Is this detrimental to the operation of the car?
