Resolved.

Was the fuse box.. Presumably the IDM specifically.

I just realized I have the same problem. The truck, a 2000 D2, is relatively new to me and when first purchased I ended up doing some work that involved removing and reinstalling the under hood fuse box and pulling out some of the RH side (it is left hand drive) wire harness. Not sure if it started after that but I started to notice that the door actuators would click when I turned off the ignition. I thought that was curious because the 1999 D2 I previously had for 10 years never did that. Then today while driving I used the door lock button and the rear wiper turned on and the engine hesitated.

Crazy... Let us know if you replace the fuse box and the outcome.
Mine has been perfect ever since.

Yeah, maybe I'll try that. I've been using my 99 as a parts donor so maybe I'll try it and get back to you.

Replacing the passenger compartment fuse box did fix the problem for me too. Also seems to have eliminated an intermittent DTC "Brake Light Relay Open Circuit" that caused the Hill Descent warning light to come on now and then. This DTC is also associated with that fuse box and people have reported eliminating it this same way. Thanks NewToTheTwo!
