Default Door Pin

The driver's side hinge pin is missing on our 2001 disco 2. I have an OEM replacement pin. Anyone have tips on how to get the arm slid over to the bracket so that I can get the pin placed? I can move it over with a pair of pliers but it slowly goes back in and I can't get it out far enough to get my hands in between the door and body to place the pin.

Maybe I am just not strong enough (girl muscles) or need something with more leverage to get the arm out far enough.

Try using a Vise Grip style locking pliers (from any Hardware store, Home Depot, Lowe's etc.) on the Door Check Strap ("The Arm") to give you more control. Lock the pliers on where you see the yellow arrow in the pics, then while closing the door slightly, pull the check strap towards the bracket. It doesn't take that much force. Have some grease on the pin and install.
Then back to Happy Town!!!
