Default Drive Shaft Vibration questions

Ok, I pulled the rear drive shaft and the u joint moves perfectly. So I pulled the front drive shaft. Once agin it moves perfectly, no play and no binding at all. So needless to say I'm at WTF stage.

Now, will the front shaft show signs it is going before it does, or is that what the vibration is telling me?

The vibrations is there on accel and decel, at lower speeds 10-45mph

Seconly, I have play in the front transfer case flange, should I look there?

The Disco is a 03 with 126K on her. Any Ideas?

The front shaft usually makes a chirp befor esplitting and tearing a hole in the tranny. Since you have them out, new U -joints are like $15 each, and there is a write up in the tech section on prop shaft rebuild. Now a drive shaft that has been "dinged" by a curb or rock can be bent enough to make vibration, a drive line shop can hanle it for you.

A propshaft will often vibrate before failure, either before or after the chirping noise, or it may not chirp at all and just vibrate.

If it has been rebuilt at it's mileage, there is nothing to talk about, get it rebuilt or plan on a huge expense when it fails. Also, do you ever lube your slip shafts on both drive shafts?

Here's a pix posted by Huckleberry77 - note grease fitting, but also note hairline cracks in this particular shaft.
