he did all that work, and then thought he had a transmission leak, so he broke down and took it to a shop.
While it was there he got a wild hair up his butt and bought a brand new jeep rubicon.
He has been working 7 days a week and 12 hours a day, so he just does not have time to even look at it.
Since then he has been on a work assignment that is now sending him oversees and he has to get rid of the Rover. So rather than sell it to someone who would not care about all the work he did to it, he is giving it to me.

With his level of maintenance, and not having the tick until after he let the transmission shop put their hands on it, I'm willing to bet the exhaust didn't get tightened back up properly (an exhaust tick that sounds like a sticky lifter is quite a common problem on these rigs). In any event, only you can answer the question if it's worth the risk to you. I'd drive it without a worry. The guy next door would put it on a flatbed, install a GPS tracking device, file a transit routing manifest with the dept of Transportation's & Homeland Security, hire a security guard to watch it, and a camera crew to film the transport.

the guy next door to you is crazy
basically it will cost about $750 to ship
Gas would be about $250 and a plane tic would be about $100, plus I would have time to bond with my new ride.
I wish I had some of the off road pictures of it
