Using the fob, sometimes the driver lock opens, most of the time it doesn't. Same for unlock and lock. Key works fine, and locks the tab at the top.

Is this is a simple case of replacing the door lock actuator? Anything else?

It seemed to start happening after I sprayed silicone grease into the lock mechanism. Maybe that was a bad idea.

 

Same thing was happening to my drivers lock, replaced with lock from parts truck and now it works perfect.

Let me know how this works. I've been battling this for 6 months.

A lot of people are saying I just need to shoot it with White Lithium Grease to lube it up. Since in theory, if it fires at all then the actuator must work to a degree. Apparently there is a setting on there and the actuator fires up and hits just enough resistance to not go all the way up.

 

Well, it was either the silicon grease I sprayed or more frequent use of superlocking that caused the actuator to stop working intermittently.

I ordered a new one for $70 rather than go with a used one that would probably fail soon anyway.

 

Jeff, I regularly use silicon spray in my D2 locks with no adverse effects, I have done for years especially in winter. Check your battery in your remote first as it may be failing/spent. I think your silicon spray theory is a pure coincidence but it may be the actuator motor failing also.
