Default drivng in ice and snow

Hello all,

I have a 99 disco II, my question is how is the best gearing in ice and snow??
It seems if I keep it in the regular high, the disco is all over the road is this normal or is there a better way?
How do I set up the right gear package??

Thanks
Ralph

Is your traction control working (is your 3 amigos on)? How are your tires?

You have no choice in "gearing", either hi range or lo range.
Put it in low and your top speed will be 40mph.
Low range wont get you any better traction, only more power to the wheels.

If you are all over the road then you need to slow down and drive accordinally.
Your best bet is to invest in some good tires, either a good set of all terrains or a set of summer tires and then a seprate set of snow tires.

If you don't want to rely on traction control, put it in 1, 2 or 3, depending on your desired speed. In other words you want to the engine revving a bit higher than normal so that when you let of the throttle you get some engine braking.
In effect you drive an automatic in a similar manner to a manual.
