Default Dropped valve guides

I’ve purchased my first DII (2004 with ~90k miles on it) and I’m doing a head gasket job on it. I decided to replace the gaskets on the valve guides and when doing so noticed a few of the guides had dropped. My questions are 1) is it ok to simply tap the guides back into their original position, 2) do they all need to be set at the exact same spec, 3) what is that height as I’ve been searching and can’t find it, and 4) is it necessary to lap the valves when reassembling now that I’ve taken them apart? Thanks!

If the head was really hot it’s possible that the valve guides slipped down. Maybe you’ll get away with tapping them back in (I don’t know). If your valves go back in their original location, and the seats and valves look good you shouldn’t need to lap them.

Thanks for the insight. I’m going to try tapping those that slipped back into their original location but your response left me with another question. Is there a typical fix when this happens? New heads? New guide pressed into the old head? Thanks again.
