Default dual battery for a D2

hey guys...

here is my progress on a dual battery for my D2...i've seen it done before on other websites but nothing on this one.....so here is goes...

the reason for this 2nd battery in my 2003 discovery is for my new install of roof rack lights and the added security of another battery....

first off i removed the battery and grabbed my cutting snips and went to workName: 1f0526e6.jpg

then i added a floor for the batteries to sit level on...i made a L shaped floor out of diamond plate i had laying around...Name: 90f2d640.jpg

make sure your batteries will fit since you have added 3.5 inches because of the diamond floor to be level....if you use a power sawzall...becareful NOT TO CUT THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS....(ask me how i know)... then all i have to do is install the orginal battery and the new battery.. run a couple cables from NEG to NEG and POS to POS and there you have it...

took me 20 mins....DO AT OWN RISK

You might also consider just making a frame out of 1" angle iron that will support the batteries without using a metal floor that will restrict air flow to the batteries.
Just something I learned years ago, the batteries get pretty hot if not allowed good air flow while you are winching a lot.
