Test as described.
You can't add more fluid unless you bleed them. Or have a leak, which it doesn't sound like.
If your front calipers aren't retracting that could cause the fronts to carry more of the load than normal, but I wouldn't go down that path quite yet.
Forget about the transmission brake, it's not related to your concern about the rear brakes.
