Are EBC brake pads and rotors the best way to go?

I got sick of the brake dust from the stock pads and put on Akebono ceramic pads on the front of the Discovery a few weeks ago. Just pulled the old pads and put the new ones on the same rotors without even turning them. Haven't been able to tell a difference in stopping power but they are quiet and dust free.
Did the same on my Rodeo and wife's Mini Cooper. The Akebonos on the Rodeo have 30K on them now and I can't see any noticeable wear on the pads. OEM pads were ceramic as well and went 128K. Rotors weren't warped and still mic'd in spec. Can't imagine why anyone would use anything but ceramic pads. No experience with Kevlar- might be even better.
