Default Electric CDL

I tried a search but had no luck, has anyone managed to engage the CDL electrically, using motor or soliond. These shifter kits are quite pricey, I thought I found an elec. kit but the company no longer makes it. They replaced it with a mechaical lever runing thru the trany hump into the passenger side compartment. There was a disco I shifter on Egay for $25 but when i asked for the linkage it suddenly went to $160.00. Dont get me wrong $160.00 isnt bad if its a bolt-in but i still have to modify it to fit. I'm sure someone must have at least tried electrically?

You can buy a 12V actuator for about $75, but then you need to build your own rig. I had bounced this idea off an engineer friend over some beer and a BBQ and we both came to the conclusion that a mechanical system would be better. This weekend I saw a simple cable and lever shifter mounted to the hump that seems to be easy build. More beer and BBQ to follow....

I can supply some beer and BBQ if you figure out an easy and cheap build!

I seem to remember Disco Mike saying that he has one or has seen them installed and it works great. If you search some older posts you might find them. I'd check with him for sure.

The company I work for make gear motors.......small ones.........

My 04 and 96 already has the CDL so I have not given this much thought..........guess I will have to take a closer look.

from site: ..."The electric motor is fully water proof and once activated has no power connected, so cannot burn out or overload, the motor also has an auto cut out so that even if the actuator switch stays depressed the unit will automatically shut off to eliminate any possible damage to the electric motor. I tend to agree, why add to the potential problems.
Someone else was thinking about this as well http://www.landroversonly.com/forums...ol-20-a-49551/
