Default engine block # or code location?

I recently purchased an '04 Discovery and the PO never sent in the LR registration card- the one that goes directly to LR headquarters and is attached somewhere in the original paperwork. Two questions- 1st is is it worth it to register new owners with LR? I wonder if there are any benefits? 2nd- it is asking for the engine block # and I can't sem to find it anywhere. The card says its near the front left of the block below the eye? or ring? which I'm guessing is that round metalappendage with an open center for which I have no idea of its function. The engine is pretty clean and I don't think the # is obscured by gunk but I still can't find it.

Don't worry about it, the selling dealer sent everything to Rover when the truck was first sold and your States DMV will notifiy Rover that you are the new owner so if there are any recalls, you will be notified.
